The much talked of potato chips in a box

It's no myth, people. They sell potato chips in boxes here. Now, don't misunderstand me - these chips are not free floating in the cardboard - rather, they are held within two bags inside of the box.
Of course, I had to document this minor oddity so that you could also be dazzled. (See my obvious delight in the photo above)
On Sunday, I made a return to O'Hanlon's Pub to meet up with Trudi, a fellow library school grad from Western. She's now working at Regina Public Library as a Reference/Collections Librarian. We had a lovely evening catching up on lots of news and sharing notes on our experiences here in Saskatchewan so far. Strangely, the potato chip issue did not come up.

Isn't the chips-in-a-box thing weird?! The first time I bought them, I thought they would be like crackerjacks --all free-floating around, and maybe with a prize!
Instead, they just turned out to have extra (purposeless) packaging. Now I get all angry and refuse to buy them. (But they ARE an interesting cultural oddity of the West!)
OMG...Susan, if we are getting together in the summer will you bring me some Old Dutch chips? Every once in a while I get a mad craving for some Old Dutch potato chips.
Ahhh the memories...Old Dutch Chips. Thunder Bay use to be as far west as they were sold and my family often found ourselves filling up the trunk of our car with box when we visited relatives in Ottawa.
Wait until you are at your first party where a drunken librarian will be see wearing the chip box on their head. What a classic move...just make sure that drunken librarian isn't you.
I hope your new job is going well. I am still looking for work but I have a few good leads....take care.
