"To someone, you are"

Or something like that....
At the time it was the perfect lyric but I can't quite remember the exact phrasing. As I've mentioned before, The Alex P. Keaton has to be one of my favourite places in all of London and my experience there last night again confirmed it. Really, any place that bills itself with "beer, food, art, music, salvation" can't be bad! Becca, Tyler and I headed out to see Old Man Luedecke and his opening act, Andy Magoffin whom this post's subject line/lyric comes from. Both were fantastic and the whole evening just came together in a lovely way, from the music, to the free birthday cake, to the excellent 90s dance music after the performers were finished in honour of one of the bar's employee's birthdays. It felt like we were at a private party and even though we didn't know anyone we were still welcome. Tonight I'm looking forward to the LMC for its open blues jam (and no cover to boot)

Prior to the show, I attended a board meeting of the London Public Library for my public libraries class. Talk about an eye-opening experience! The meeting itself was 1.5 hours so not overly long but it was pretty intense at points and a great education in the subtle kind of push and pull that running meetings and keeping them moving along involves. Mini rant - I think PDA devices should be banned from board meetings. You might think I'd be more understanding due to my time in Waterloo - aka home of the blackberry - but I just find it insulting when people pull those things out when others are speaking. A few of us had drinks and nachos with our professor afterward which was great. She told us about different programs she had organized over the years at the library, including stories of hungover children's book authors giving public performances. I also had a chance to visit with one of my classmates; Jason, whose blog is well-worth checking out.

Mondays through Wednesdays wipe me out each week, but now I have 2 days to get caught up so that I am in relaxed spirits for Shan and Mike's wedding this weekend. I hope those of you who will be in attendance are ready to dance! Only 4-5 assignments to get done before that; completely manageable:)-

Oh! And in case you've been wondering why I have been negligent in updating, check out where I have been spending the majority of my blogging energy lately.
