Coldplay - Violet Hill

New Coldplay which has been on my playlist this week as I sit at home trying to recover from mono (yep, seriously) and strep/tonsillitis.

Perfect mix of melancholy and rocking out. I like it a lot.

Other things on my "sick list":

READING
Paste Magazine

My mom introduced me to Paste a few years ago and it's always a good bet. A great mix of music, movies, politics, good reads without too much of the snotty critic writing I see other places. But still with a bit of snottiness...cause how can you be a critic without some of it?

Stuff White People Like

This blog cracks me up on a consistent basis, mostly cause I can see myself in many of the topics listed;) One of my fave entries is about Graduate School.

VIEWING
Why Did I Get Married?

This wasn't shown in theatres in Regina so I had to wait til it was out on DVD. I loved it. Smart, funny, hard hitting. Good stuff.

Relocation, Relocation

I'm obsessed. There is no other way around it. Kristy and Phil have undeniable chemistry, and the houses are gorgeous.

The Cosby Show

So much better than any sitcom on the air today. Love it.

LISTENING
Neil Young "Harvest"
Billy Bragg "Mr. Love and Justice"
Ladyhawk (they're coming to Regina in June!)

I'm out of energy to put up links, but each is worth a peek.

Have any recommendations for my sick list? Let me know.

Glad to see Kirsty and Phil on your list :P

For cheese, tears, and Irish accents, my sister highly recommends "PS, I Love you" (coming out on DVD Tuesday).

And for listening, go for the season finale podcast of Let's Get Baked with Matt and Dave, with special guest Old Man Luedecke. (I also found the older ones with Share and Rich Aucoin to be amusing... but I was also hopped up on late-night quilting).

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Aw, thanks Becca. And thanks too for your email - I just finally checked my gmail and saw it. I'm sure I'll be writing you back as the week progresses.

Is there a link to your new radio show yet?

I always enjoy Let's Get Baked so I'll be sure to check out the season finale.

Talk to you again soon.

I love that blog! This was my favourite comment from the graduate school entry:

"What I think is REALLY white is to have multiple masters degrees and no doctoral degree. I mean, what’s the point of that?"

Perhaps this hits a bit too close to home for us public history types - each one of us having duplicates of master's or bachelor's degrees. ;)
